ECQ services have been busy supporting an independent school start a long care centre.

The policies and procedures are being written in line with the National Regulations and ACECQA’s National Quality Rating system. Always a BIG task.

When getting a new centre started it becomes so clearly apparent that it is so much more than childcare. This service has such a large amount of thought put into every detail. What can children learn, discover and investigate in their environment? Teachers are joint researchers. How does the environment help this happen?

Saying that there will be no plastic in a centre is easy until you come to beds. What can you do to have beds which are hygienic, long lasting and non plastic? working on that one!

The playspace is in a beautiful environment. Lots of room for ideas. Children are capable and competent it is hoped they will be a loud voice to help design the playspace.

This playspace in New Zealand made ECQ sit up and think? Can sandpits really be on two levels? How good is it to be able to pump water into the water tray? Now that is a good idea for investigation and discussion….talk about teachers and children as researchers….how does that happen?
